How to Choose Webinar Audio Options

Audio communication is a key component of the webinar puzzle. When selecting the best option to interact with your webinar audience, consider some crucial factors. There exist 3 ways of providing high-end audio quality during a webinar.

  •   VoIP
  •      Teleconferencing
  •      Simulcast (teleconferencing and VoIP combines)
Let`s have a detailed look at these options.
  • VoIP

VoIP is a budget-friendly option not only for making international calls, but also for conducting webinars. It supports one-to-many format peculiar to webinars, and its major advantage is the possibility to capture audio automatically with the recording. However it`s use for webinars may be inexpedient if participants don`t have computer speakers, headsets or the bandwidth on their side is too low.

  • Teleconferencing

The advantage of teleconferencing is that it`s a well-tried and reliable technology which enables high-end and consistent audio quality. Following the audio provider`s hints, moderators and speakers can also carry out pre-conference so early participants cannot hear terminal preparations taking place. The drawback of teleconferencing is the following: if the webinar is being recorded the audio should be captured separately and attached to the webinar recording later.
  • Simulcast
Simulcasting both teleconferencing and business VoIP offers major flexibility to webinar participants. It makes it possible for participants to pick up the option that suits the best in the meantime allowing the moderators/speakers hold a personal pre-conference via telephone. Universal Voice can be used to accomplish a simulcast integrating audio provider with the webinar platform. Another, though clumsy, way to realize this is to have each participant use both a computer and phone headsets and speak into both (the pitfall is that each broadcast should be managed separately). The simulcast records the audio automatically which means that no post-production work is needed.

Once an appropriate option is selected make sure to test that the audio broadcast is set correctly and fully realize how to perform and deploy it during the live conference.
